Weekend Round Up #121

Hope you're having a great weekend!  We are celebrating my cousin's marriage to a lovely young woman today and I am absolutely THRILLED for them!  He and I grew up side by side for much of our childhood, and he truly deserves someone as special as he is marrying. We wish them both the best for many many years to come!

On to the Round Up of some great posts this week!

FINANCIAL:
Do You Know What it Takes to Be a Landlord? at Financial Highway is a great post for those of you considering this form of passive income.
What Losing Weight Taught Me About Saving Money at Well Heeled Blog draws a great number of parallels between these two tasks. Go check it out!
What I Wish I Had Known When I Started Living Frugally by Kentin Waits at Wise Bread is a great post that really speaks to those just starting out.

FAMILY/LIFE:
{ They are listening } at The Maternal Lens was a Pinterest find and was an awesome one at that. A must read for any parent.
Poverty in America. It’s bigger than you realize. at There's Beauty in the Chaos is a post you really need to take time to read and ponder. I know I did, and I found some pretty convicting points.
Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Doughnuts with Chocolate Ganache and Cookie Dough Crumble at Baking Serendipity. Oh my goodness. I NEED these. It says that this page is not found, but I swear it is.  Do a search on the site or just look for March 5, 2012 entry. I swear it is there and cannot figure out why the link doesn't work when I copied it from the page!
How to Choose a Guardian for Your Child at Parenting Squad is a must read, even if you have already done this.
21 Creative Consequences at iMOM was a Pinterest find and a great list of options for your hard-(or not so hard-)to-discipline child.
Five Etiquette Basics for Kids at The Fiskerelli Bellies made me say, "THANK you!"  I hate that kids are losing basic skills like this and this list is a good place to start to get back to the basics.
Decluttering and Simplifying Book Collections at The Family CEO is a great resource! Check this one out!
You’ll Need Math For That! 13 More Seriously Cool Jobs That Need Math at MathsInsider was an awesome post. As a math geek myself, it's good to see something that illustrates that you really do use math in "real life."
Charging Station at Joyful Homemaking shows you how to make a charging station out of an old bread box. Love the repurposing - and this is adorable!
The Awesome Power of Showing Appreciation by Tracy Letzerich at Michael Hyatt's blog is a lesson I learned the hard way - and I'm still working on it. Reading posts like this really help me with that.

FAITH:
Jesus Does Not Want to Be Your Friend at The Church of No People was a truly intriguing post. Something I've never really considered and it really struck a chord with me.

FUN:
Giving your kid an obscure Bible name. at Stuff Christians Like is worth the read if only for the comments. Check it out!
