Our family loves playing games. Card games, video games, board games, outdoor games...we're usually easy to please. We just like to play. We love a lot of the classics that Chip and I grew up with and sharing those with our children, but we're also always looking for a new game to try out and make one of our favorites. The more fun things we can find to do with our children, the happier we all are individually and as a family.
So I was quite pleased when I was offered the chance to try out one of Rooster Fin's new and interesting games, Shufflin' Feet. Although it says it is for ages 8+, we knew our brilliant 6-year old could pull it off and we helped our little 2-year old princess because she wanted to play with the family so badly.
This game is reminiscent of many of the card games that I played as a child (and still do - just had a game night with neighbors) and was most like a game I learned as a teenager called Egyptian Rat War (I learned it by another name, but this one is much nicer and family-friendly), but it added a betting aspect to it.
When I opened the box, I have to say I was a bit weirded out by the feet cards. I don't like feet. They're...well, they are just gross. But like the grown-up that I now am, I got over it quickly and got ready to play the game. =)
The game was full of twists and turns and was a great tool for teaching/reiterating counting and numbers for the little ones. Of course Patrick counts well, but we were able to review some counting with Abigail as well, so she did get something out of it after all.
As a family we enjoyed playing it although I will admit that we did have to keep picking up the rules and referencing them because we weren't quite sure what to do next many times. After a while, we got the hang of it and began to really enjoy ourselves.
If you are looking for a great new family game that is new and exciting, try out any of the games by Rooster Fin. They are sure to please the masses.
